How to Cook/Use Apples

After taking a look at the benefits of eating apples, the “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” phrase seems to be an accurate one.  Whether you are eating an apple by itself or using it in one of the recipes below, you can’t go wrong adding it to your diet.  Try eating an apple in between breakfast and lunch.

Apple PB Oatmeal

Ingredients:

–  1/4 cup of oats

– 1/2 cup of fat free milk

– 1/3 cup of Greek yogurt

– 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

– 1 tablespoon of peanut butter

– 1/4 of a banana sliced

– 1/2 apple cored and diced

Directions:

– Place all ingredients into a jar with lid (except for the bananas and apples)

– Seal jar and put in refrigerator overnight

– In the morning, top with banana slices and apple

(Eat them warmed up, room temp, or cold)

A healthy breakfast and easy to make!

Apple and Kale Salad

Ingredients:

– 1 serving of kale

– 1 lemon juiced

– 1/8 cup olive oil

– 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper

– 1 apple diced

– 1 tablespoon of honey

– 1/4 cup of chia seeds

Directions:

– Place kale into a mixing bowl

– Add lemon juice, olive oil, and black pepper

– Squeeze and massage the kale for about 20 to 30 seconds

– Add the apple and honey and toss

– Sprinkle with chia seeds

A great, light, and super food infused meal.
