How to Cook/Use Bananas:

There is a common thought that carbs are bad for trying to lose weight.  This is only partially true.  First, you need carbs to provide your body energy.  Try “carbo-loading” for breakfast and after exercising.  Second, not all carbs are bad!  Carbs in a banana are an example of good carbs.  Whether you are eating bananas whole or mashing them up and using them as substitutes for butter, you can’t go wrong.  Check out these recipes that use bananas.

Banana Waffles/Pancakes


–  1 banana

– Waffle/pancake mix


If you are a die hard fan of waffles or pancakes, here is a way to make your waffles/pancakes fluffier and taste way better.  Just blend in a banana to your mix and cook your waffle or pancake like normal.  Once you try this, you will never go back to the old way of making waffles/pancakes.

Avocado Banana Cacao Dessert Mousse


– 1 avocado

– 1/2 of a banana

– 1/8 cup of milk (almond, coconut, or skim)

– 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla


Add it all in a blender and blend until smooth.  You may need to adjust milk for a thicker or thinner consistency.  Now, place mousse in the fridge for an hour and serve.

Great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt!

Banana Chips


– 3 bananas

– Lemon juice


Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  Slice up your bananas into thin pieces and lay on the baking sheet.  Sprinkle with lemon juice and bake them in the oven for an hour and a half.  

Good healthy snack to eat on the road instead of potato chips filled with sodium and fat.
