10 Toughest States for Hours of Service

Violations in 2015

CCJ Staff

| July 11, 2016

Hours of service violations can be tough. Whether the driver is conscious of the violation or not, getting caught in opposition to the law could see drivers with their licenses suspended or even fired. It is important to always review the transportation laws that might affect the trucking industry in your state to make sure that you are following all procedures correctly.

The list was compiled based on proprietary data from CCJ publisher Randall-Reilly’s Rig Dig Business Intelligence. The toughest states list was calculated based on the number of hours violations as a percentage of each state’s total violations.

2015’s data shows an apparent upward trend in the hours of service violations doled out by the top 10 states.

The top 10 states for HOS violations are:

1. Arkansas

2. Wyoming

3. North Dakota

4. Oregon

5. Colorado

6. Indiana

7. Kansas

8. Iowa

9. South Dakota

10. Nevada
